Win server 2003 R2 SP2 - no noticeable issues on the machine. When I create new strings in regedit, I hit refresh and they are gone! I try to re-add and it complains the string already exists.

I am able to find the strings using the Native Reg Editor, but this is very odd behavior.

Any suggestions as to why this would happen and how to fix?

I should add that AV does not find anything. Using AVG.

EDIT: I should also add that this only happens within ONE registry Key on this machine.

EDIT2: Solved the problem by removing the key and re-creating it.

Gotta love windows :D

You could try using Rootkit Revealer from sysinternals to scan the registry for possible issues. – logicalscope Apr 20 '12 at 15:56
