possible duplicate of Finding Win32.Sality sample for malware analysis purposes –  Adnan Jun 16 '13 at 11:50
I'm sure you can find some scene websites with virus samples, I can't remember the title exactly but there was one talk at Chaos Comm. Conference who was talking about that. Alternatively I can just give you my old hard drive ;) –  rath Jun 16 '13 at 12:17
Hi Val, welcome to Information Security. (Okay, you're not really new here, but it's the first time I'm seeing you, so... :-) ) I think your question was closed mostly because it's not really a good fit for SE - basically asking for a site recommendation, not very different from asking for a product, book, etc. "Shopping list" questions like this don't really work well on SE sites. Besides that, the linked question does already have quite a few applicable suggestions, and alternate solutions (which is actually a better type of question for SE). –  AviD Jun 16 '13 at 13:31
@AviD, At first, being off-topic and being duplicate is two different things. Secondly, the recommended question has got +8 positive votes. That is why, I guess, the people who closed this topic for all sorts of nonsense reasons blamed on me have not raised this issue. Thanks for doing that. Third, the "original" question asks for specific sample. It must be closed as "too localized" rather than cover query for generic samples. Otherwise explain what my question has to do with Sality. Finally, my question is definitely clear an even has got the answer and, thus, closed under false reason. –  Val Jun 16 '13 at 14:03
@Val, I didnt say it was offtopic, I said the question is not a good fit for SE sites. TBH, I'm not thrilled about the Sality question either, but since that already has some good answers, I would prefer to edit it into a more constructive form - which it could be. That said, it IS a dupe of your question, and it does provide the answers you're looking for - Ignore the word "sality" in the question (I already removed it), since it was just an example and the answers in no way relate to it. –  AviD Jun 16 '13 at 14:18

Can you supply the links with short summaries? I've looked at first ones and they all seem to be simple forums. I see now concrete links to infected files that I can download. Is it because I must register first to get access? –  Val Jun 16 '13 at 12:45
@Val Malshare doesnt require registration –  BlueBerry - vignesh4303 Jun 16 '13 at 12:49
Tekdefence is the only simply browsed. Openmalvare responds with some list if I enter "windows" into the search windows. I would not find these sites without your help. This trick, with entering "windows" into MD5 window, however, does not succeed with Malshare. It seems really demanding exact MD5 keys, which I do not have without having samples first. –  Val Jun 16 '13 at 13:10
