My router blocks all connections that include the word "game" in the URL of the traffic, and I would like to play a game which is an external program. Browser proxies won't work. Is there a way to get around the filter? By the way, the game is called Strife.

You should try some free VPN's as it's faster than proxy and also it unblocks any websites which are blocked in your region, every program which you will use will go trough VPN automatically (example can be Skype, Combat Arms and so on). It also have 128-bit encryption which means that your internet traffic is encrypted and person on the another side of the VPN and even government can't read or see your online activity.
I hope that will help, at least a little bit.
