@schroeder Sure, code and mailing list is available, but that does not tell the story of how OpenSSL started and what made it the de-facto SSL implementation today. Few people have nice things to say about SSL, and many attribute it to rough beginnings. That is why I would like to see its story told.

@schroeder I have changed the tone of the question. I still think this question is relevnant however. I can find little information relating to the history of OpenSSL, and it is a project that is somewhat clouded in mystery I feel. And it is after all a question which can have a definitive answer.
