I am a budding freelance web developer and code geek. I write (X)HTML, XML, AJAX, JavaScript, CSS, PHP and MySQL, and try to learn more on every project.

Where to put private files on a shared web server It is not available in my file tree. I will get in touch with the help desk, and ask some questions about this. Armed with this new information, I think I can make the right choices. Thanks so much! |

Where to put private files on a shared web server I am not sure we are talking about the same thing. There is an ini file that is not accessible from the root. I can alter it through my control panel. I could also write one, keep it in the root, and see if I can get my web host not to serve the file. I am leaning toward altering the ini file that is accessed through the control panel. Thoughts? |

Where to put private files on a shared web server Do you think it would be alright to alter the ini file that I can access, for the purpose of storing the DB config info? |

Where to put private files on a shared web server I mainly want to guard against XSS and injection, but since I don't know what the future holds, I just want to set them up to be as secure as possible. |

Where to put private files on a shared web server It isn't critical. I am developing a site for a small record label. All financial transactions will occur on a third party site, so my client's site will only contain a couple of blogs, a product catalog -hence the need for the DB- and some other minor stuff that is not necessarily proprietary. |

Where to put private files on a shared web server I have access to an ini file not on the webroot. I was thinking of storing my configuration info in there for logging into the DB. |

Where to put private files on a shared web server As I thought. So creating an ini file would be too dangerous, I suspect... |
