Designing in zero day attack mitigations @jaffachief, correct but that is fundementally hard to plan for, Olivier is dealing with the specific case after the vulnerbility is known but before it is patched. |

Do secure phone lines exist? I think Mohamed's answer is best in that he is pointing out that this needs to be done on both ends of the phone line so that the "conversation" is encrypted/decrypted at each end. In other words the transport mechanism is by default inherently unsecure. |

Is external vuln scanning sufficient? Which I think in effect answers the question perfectly in that what you are saying is that it is impossible to rely on only automated vulnerbility testing software. |

How do you defend specifically against attackers utilizing any or all of the commercial exploit kits? I think in order to practise defence in depth the org would have to download and test each crime pack to identify the specific vunerbilities that their network exposes. Auditing is part of the solution, but you need to know where to look in the logs. |
