Even with HTTPS, you still need to trust the root certificate authority, and their key-signing process and security.

You need to be careful, especially if you are renting VPS's from third parties. If the attacks somehow manage to affect the company you are renting from, and they realize that you have invited the attacks, be prepared to be billed(or worse) if they cause network downtime etc.

Okay. When using TOR, it is technically 100% anonymous, meaning that no-one could find out who you are. However, if the exit node is compromised and you login to a service that would give away who you are (having a facebook widget on your machine for example), then who ever has compromised that exit node could potentially read your traffic, thus finding out who you are.
