comment Are there secure alternatives to single-use password reset links?
I've seen this approach in the wild, where a short (4 digit) "pin code" is sent to the user via email or SMS, which is immediately entered in the same browser session. (Closing the browser, etc, breaks the reset) Alternatively, the system has an option to call you (at a pre-registered number of course) and read the pin to you.
