How is an ATM secure? @MikeBrown You're right on that one. In my country, every now and then a bunch of smartasses pop up & try to haul away the whole ATM with a truck. The most they've done is move it a couple of meters out of place and ruin the building it's built into. I remember news articles stating they weigh a couple of tons. |

Is it secure to transfer an RSA public key by email? Nitpicking & not downvoting for it, but since this is security.SE I think SHA would be more appropriate, especially since most *nix'es have them by default now & the cost isn't really relevant for a pubkey file. :) |

Why do we lock our computers? @Polynomial The funny thing is that most of those are actually way easier to crack than a password. One could get your fingerprints anywhere without you even knowing. A password can only be obtained by physical access to you, a blowtorch and some pliers. |

What's the impact of disclosing the front-face of a credit or debit card? @HenningKlevjer I asked that 1st question he linked to, and the guys there explained that all the relevant stuff would be defined in the [Amazon's] merchant agreement, which is obviously not available for general public. Plus, I wouldn't say, e.g., Amazon is a "bad" merchant and they don't ask for the CVV. The same aforementioned question mentions the reason why they can afford not asking for the stuff -- they keep the fraud rates low enough. |

Whats the probability of a personal computer being hacked? Since this basically asks for a probability based on partial evidence, I'd say it's a better fit for stats.SE ... :) |

How does Amazon bill me wihout the CVC / CVV / CVV2? @AndySmith funny thing -- I actually order through the UK store when I need stuff that's not deliverable electronically, and they don't ask me for the code. Must be at least somewhat individual then... |

How does Amazon bill me wihout the CVC / CVV / CVV2? Where is the procedure defined? Is it card specific (e.g., VISA, Master etc.) + bank enforcements? |

Is TrueCrypt safe enough to store clear-text-passwords? @FlorianPeschka Actually, telling us what is not in your passphrase decreases its entropy as well, not just revealing what is in it. Don't do that. :) |
