Jun 10, 2016 at 20:28 comment added Nathan Goings I cannot provide a reference, but every IT company I've worked for has provided alternate "username_adm" style accounts. Most importantly, this seperates the ability to manage shares and our daily operations. Consequently, making malware much harder to spread through our non-admin accounts--and currently, is a great mitigation to ransomware.

Jun 8, 2016 at 11:33 comment added Little Code "This would affect usability" .... lots of software developers fall into this trap ... "it would affect usability" ... "we can do security later" ... etc.... No. You. Can't. Put security first and foremost ! If your app needs privilege separation (which is a very good thing !)... then design that first, and then figure out how to make it look pretty (hint: lots of websites manage re-authentication for privileged actions without adversely affecting usability).
