If you want to stop using MD4 and/or not be vulnerable to pass-the-hash attacks, then you can't use sambaNTPassword or NTLM at all. The only option is to use other authentication.

@ bk2204 , thanks for the answer, but I'm thinking what we can do with the current setup where we are using NTPassword for samba and these are stored over LDAP.
