I'm running a terraform application to SSH to an instance. The application expects OpenSSH format key. Is there any way I can generate?

  • Does it support ed25519 keys at all? Or does it require RSA keys? – Z.T. Oct 17 '16 at 0:27
  • I.e., is this a problem of format conversion or of supporting a crypto primitive? – Z.T. Oct 17 '16 at 0:27
  • Terraform doesn't support ed25519 yet. I'm now looking at converting the ed25519 format pub key to an OpenSSH format key – Siddharthan Asokan Oct 17 '16 at 0:31
  • You cannot do that. They use completely different math. The mathematical value in an ed25519 key is useless as an RSA key, in any encoding. – Z.T. Oct 17 '16 at 0:48

    It's like converting a fingerprint into a retina scan. – Z.T. Oct 17 '16 at 0:49
