I am currently learning about OSINT gathering tools and I was wondering if once you download a file the file path in the metadata always changes to the one in your machine. Is there a way to stop this from happening? Is there a way to check the file path from an online file?

"Is there a way to stop this from happening?" -- you want the metadata to lie? What you want is to read the metadata in the location the file is in. Once you download the file, the metadata, by necessity, changes. – schroeder Sep 12 at 6:34
  • I think the question is how to preserve the original file path in the URL, but it's not clear whether the path should be recreated locally (mirror style), or simply preserved as adjacent metadata. – Royce Williams Sep 13 at 14:18
